I live in the shadow of the Trump Soho (which is not in Soho), currently The Dominick, where no one lives despite the sales pitches of Trump fils et fille. I would very much like to punish them for constructing this blight on the landscape. I'd like to see Donald punished for his years of tax evasion. Neither of those crimes, though, have anything to do with the constitutional transgress, the breaking of norms, the corruption and mindlessness that drove me close to mania for more than four years. I don't want the lesson to presidential successors to be, "Do anything you wanna do [h/t Eddie and The Hot Rods] - but pay your taxes." This isn't Capone. It's not sufficient to get him behind bars without having addressed the outrage of his presidency.
trump is a career criminal. I have been waiting decades for the law to catch up and actually punish him. I am so disheartened. We keep hearing that no one is above the law. trump is so blatantly corrupt yet he seems to come away unscathed from all of his lawlessness. he MUST be tried, convicted and incarcerated. Breaking the law cannot only be punishable for the every man! Those in power, those with wealth, must be held to the same standards. Enough already of this Teflon don getting off scot free!
I feel if Trump isn't indicted it would be a miscarriage of justice and will show the American people once again how the rich can commit crimes and get away with it.
At least we have a process and the wheels are turning. I’m unsure of the outcome…as is everyone. But I’d really love to see Trumpty testify. I’d love to see him cornered…no place to turn, no fall-guys to blame. Just him twisting in the wind. I’d like to see where that scenario leads.
It is astonishing and nerve wracking to think that such a massive legal undertaking can all come down to a new D.A. This election cycle has much bigger consequences than we ever dreamed of.
What is so aggravating is trump has been a criminal for decades, and in the end, he gets away with it. Why? Because it's messy. Because he has minions doing his dirty work. Because the task is so complicated. Because people hope karma will get him. Because he has lied throughout his life, sniffs out weakness and exploits the uneducated, ignorant and malcontent. I understand that an indictment could instigate his knucklehead zombie supporters, but we continually forget that the majority in this country ARE the majority. We are giving too much leeway to his cult. It's time to indict him and his mob family and organization. The Democrats continue to come to a gun fight with a knife. They try to follow the rules against a republican party that reflects time and again, that they don't follow the rules, make things up as they go along, and scoff at their hypocrisy. If we don't take care of the lawlessness of trump and those who follow him, we are destined to repeat it with another Hitler-type cult of personality.
I pray to God he is indicted for so many of the harmful, hurtful, illegal, unethical, immoral things he has done to this country and its people. Bringing him to justice may be one way (and perhaps the ONLY way) to bring his cult members in line, including the stooges in the house and senate. It will show that no one, not even the feared Mr. Trump (though why is beyond me), is above or beyond the arm of the law. I'll end here as I may go overboard in expressing what I feel.
I pray every night at 6 pm watching your show that the news comes that he is indicted and he has no way to run in 2024! We can’t afford another 4 years of what we have already been through with him and his crooked cronies! I’ll keep “wishin and hopin”!
My opinion, Vance will chip away at those around him that have know how his business works for decades. I think it would be fitting to see them turn on him trying to save themselves knowing how he values "loyalty".
He needs to be indicted because even outside his Presidency he thinks that he is above the law. The ones that were responsible for not bringing him to justice were the Senate Republican. But they sold their souls to the devil to protect their political party and their own political and personal ambitions, rather than protecting this country and its Constitution.
I would go with door #2. As much as I’d like, and feel he deserves, to be indicted I think because he is an ex President he will not be prosecuted for criminal activity.
But by indicted Trump Org which includes his children is a way to permanently cripple him and everything that he holds dear. To stripe him of all his wealth, assets, properties would surely be a death blow to him and his family.
I would love to see him rot in jail but seeing him without influence, power and penniless is the next best thing.
Also, by putting him on the “trial of the century” and finally jailed just makes him a martyr to his fanatic followers and could further his demented anti democratic platform.
If he is not indicted and has committed the crimes we all think he has, we will know there are those "above the law". Sadly, when and if it does happen, his followers that line up blindly behind him and will likely feel it a political prosecution.
Why does this all take so long when illegal behavior after illegal behavior have been detailed. Revelations having come to light at the G-7 with world leaders apparently sharing Trumps attempts to turn the world on it's ear should make us all shudder. Thank you Ari for giving the candidates time to show they have the strength to do the right thing. Watching so many who have touched Trump demonstrate their belief that they are above the law shows that this all must be dealt with. Thank you for helping us understand this.
With God's help our country will overcome the disaster that was Trump by seeing him put in prison for the remainder of his life. And those around him that are criminals will be imprisoned as well.
