It's a shame that the powers at Fox didnt care how many lies Tucker told , his obvious bigotry, or misogynistic behavior . But when it came to monetary loss, they fired him. Hope they take a look at the others too.
I was in tears listening to Mr. Police. Though my family has never experienced racism in that manner, it's heartbreaking to see what these victims of police brutality have gone through. Thanks for debuting the song on your show today.
I didn’t expect Tucker Carlson to be fired from Fox (Faux) News.
Just wondering 🤔…Murdoch fired Carlson, isn’t he the one that encouraged lying to their viewers? It is not like Murdoch is completely innocent from the spread of the election lies and more. It’s his company. It did not seem like he did anything to stop the lies.
Anyway, since Murdoch started to clean house, he might as well fire the rest of the Fox News hosts (liars).
787.5 million dollars payment to Dominion really hit Fox News where it hurts…good!
And they are not out of woods yet as they have pending lawsuits.
But something tells me that they are not done with the lying business…TBD🤷🏽♀️

Like so many other people, I was really glad to see that Fox was so overwhelmed by proof of their lies that they felt cpmelled to settle. I am hoping for additional punishment(s) down the road for them, but I don't see how this will result in any of their viewers realizing they were duped by the Faux News organization because all that company did was to pander to and reinforce the bigotry and hatred that was already there.
And isn't this mess just a further example of Murdoch's greed, and his willingness to shame and victimize other people in pursuit of obscene profits? His News International was involved in a cell phone hacking and bribery scandal in the late 90s to mid-2000s that victimized the royal family, celebrities, and even ordinary people just to get headlines for News of the Day and other Murdoch papers. NOTD was shut down and people went to jail for that POS. Among the victims was the family of a young girl who had been kidnapped and murdered. Based on this and the Faux News lies and propagandizing, I'd say that lying to viewers and readers was, in fact, a part of Murdoch's business practice. One that has made him very rich at the expense of just about everyone.
Happy Monday, Ari!!! I did not see this coming, especially with their biggest star. I don't know yet if this changes their model, but it does shake things up a bit. It definitely puts others on notice. Plenty of the other actors on the network share the same schtick, so I'm curious to see what else comes of this. I'm very confused how their programs are considered news. I watched just enough from what you aired to us today, to know none of that should be labeled journalism. "the justice system can still work, lies can have consequences and the truth remains pretty powerful — which is precisely why autocrats and coup-planners are so afraid of it." I love this!!! Ari, “You’re Fired” is apropos for this newsletter! Serves a double purpose. You summarized the events surrounding Carlson well! His firing demonstrated that our value to others has a price, and that the dispensable Carlson became his own collateral damage. Today, he learned that 3 million viewers couldn’t preserve his spot at FOX, just like they couldn’t keep Trump in as president. Defaming others has been Carlson’s (and other hosts) forte’. Fortunately, his/their arrogance led to them generating a trail of emails, texts, and recordings. Thereby, creating a great day for America!
I think Fox will double down on support of Trump. The revenue is in the MAGA base. Dominion took the money because of the risk of a MAGA member being on the jury and never being able to come to a unanimous decision. I don't like that but it is what it is. Carlson simply pushed the envelop too far and worse yet, left an audit trail within Fox's email records. Absent documented discussions, the settlement would have been much less, if any.
WOW! I did NOT see that coming! My earlier prediction was totally wrong, so I apologize. That's one of the positive things about being cynical. Most of the time, you are vindicated, but sometimes, you are pleasantly surprised! Tonight, I was pleasantly surprised! This sets up an interesting scenario. If Smartmatics follows through and puts Tucker on the stand, will he turn vindictive and direct his vitriol toward his ex-employers? As Rachel would say, 'Watch this space!'
