I watched your interview with her. Her grace and passions are obvious. The scientific facts she brought to light are studied today. I’m glad David was fascinated with her.! She accepted the Barbie for the role model she’s become and looks forward to more girls to become interested in awe inspiring nature. Great Beat interview and subsequently your informative article.

Jane is a hero. She had the guts,to study and explore, where most men fear and misunderstand these beautiful creatures. These brainwashed clowns disregard the apes and refuse to believe in history. White men want us to return to the dark ages, which is where most of them belong, and they ignorantly believe that is where life started!!??

Having read this article and after watching your interview Ari on YouTube with Jane Goodall I have a very near and dear opinion and takeaway of the subject at hand. Jane Goodall is just an international treasure and example and role model to all, men and woman alike. She portrays a reality where we are all interdependent and we are. Where we as humans rely on not only the mass industrialized farming of animals to eat and survive. But while we destroy the animal's spirits through these non free ranging mass producing farms that treat these sentient beings like machinery to produce nourishment to the over populated masses. How are these mass produced farm animals who are so poorly treated unlike the cherished riches as we see our family members we call pets. And how we are destroying the earth through deforestation and sending entire species into extinction. Juxtaposed to that, where as the deforestation happening throughout the world is destroying the habitats for our wild life for more land to farm and feed as well as build and house the exploding growth of the developed and developing world. A world already so over populated how are we to sustain life as we know it today for both man and wild life alike in generations to come. As Jane Goodall so affectionately discussed her love for all sentient beings as do I, and how we as a world society of people are supposed to not only coexist in harmony with animals both domestic and wild but, as grim as it sounds, how are we to maintain the sustenance to feed this globe at large.

Hey Ari great interview with Ms Goodall. She is an inspiration to anyone that has a passion they want to pursue. Her determination to have the chimpanzees to trust her paid off. The hug from the chimpanzee was so heartwarming.

On another subject, I saw your Politics & Prose J6 Commitee Report event on YouTube. That was a really informative and fun evening. You and John Flannery were great and we learned so much. All the questions were good. We learned you were a litle adult at 9 years old,and that John Flannery got to see John F Kennedy when he was a young Senator. Thanks Ari for having events like these that we can eventually see online. Take care, be safe. We will see you tonight for another great show.😊🙏❤️

Beautifully written- I can understand tiring talking about herself. Her true self is a force of nature and it will take someone like her to continue with creatures great and small. Each time we lose another species, we lose a small part of ourselves. We may not be as effective or as “famous” but if WE choose to do one thing - just one thing that helps mankind rather than the “self” it can make a difference. It may be donating, it may be adopting an animal but one good thing done by many turns into a great thing. When we humans continue to think in terms of power or money we lose a bit of our humanity. I am saddened by the people in power who choose to deny the problem because it is not worth the money? That will be the demise of human civilization.

As to Jazz- and Samara Joy, I’m so glad you highlighted this artist and the place of jazz in the contemporary world. I love jazz like you love rap. I thinks it’s timeless, soulful, joyous, totally addictive. You asked if it was passé- but is Mozart or Chopin passé? If something is beautiful does it ever go out of style? She answered your questions masterfully. I hope others see it her way and I hope she wins at the Grammy’s.

"The state we're in now, the global environment, is simply due to the crazy idea that there can be unlimited economic development on a planet with finite natural resources."

Amen to that! And poorer countries tend to pay disproportionately more. 🌴🐿️

I really appreciate this interview as an antidote to our policies of dominating and exploiting our planet for profit. She has always been so remarkable for her patience in allowing the natural world to unfold rather than forcing an outcome. I think that’s an important lesson in human studies. Her work underscored so many primatologists attempts to try and explain why Homo sapiens do what they do. I guess humans are slow learners or they believe themselves to be so special that they don’t have to factor nature into their life metric. I loved this interview if for no other reason than to have gratitude for our beautiful world and all the creatures that live here

Jane Goodall is absolutely correct in her findings. I believe that uncaring and selfish (my words) people are destroying the Earth's natural resources forever and that's a sad state of affairs

Like the trees, the volcanoes, the cattle…humanity is part of the natural environment. To say that we don’t contribute to environmental changes is the height of ignorant arrogance.

Of course we do.

Maybe humanity should pay a bit more attention to people like Jane.

The entire interview is worth reading if only for her discerning evaluation of a recent ex president. Always interesting guests but you should have posted a warning before your interview with Gaetz. Something like "some viewers may find the next segment disturbing", which it was.

Every time he lied he smiled first. So lots of teeth !!

“Too many people look at animals and nature as some “other” plane we can sample, control or ignore, when in fact, we humans “are part of the natural world.” (CHECK QUOTE)”

Under Quora, a few similarities, but no verbatim quote found. That said, I fall into the above category of people. Getting better, though! It was a struggle to even read this commentary. My brain just doesn’t go there-even though I recognize its importance, and the valuable work, done by Ms Goodall. Heck, I even enjoyed your interview with her!

Great article Ari. Human beings are indeed, a part of the natural world. We are not superior to it, nor inferior. Yet, unfortunately, most of the time humanity has acted as though nature is something to be tamed, subjugated, and in many cases (look at our big cities) destroyed in favor of human habitation rather than trying to co-exist with those life-forms that also live here. No, I'm not in favor of letting skunks invade our neighborhoods.... some have at least one of the human variety anyway.

Jane Goodall's dedidication and work over her lifetime are to be praised, as she has contributed much understanding on other species that occupy our little planet. Obviously we are not the only ones to be affected by climate change, e.g., polar bears, Florida Panthers, manatees, Monarch butterflies, but we are the ones with the science and technology to mitigate the damage and save these creatures that belong here just as much as we do.

I'm reminded of the line by Rodney King during the Watts Riots years ago: "Why can't we all just get along?"

Again, terrific article !!

It must have been such a pleasure and a delightful experience for you Ari to interview Jane Goodall. As a human people we really should listen to her and the like. Humanity cannot exists without the knowledge gained from what science teaches. It takes knowledge and the wisdom conveyed from people like Jane to help us sustain a healthy environment and thus a healthy and enjoyable life. It’s not hard to imagine life without air, water and vegetation, just look at the moon or any planet outside of earth. We are on that path and some people actually think making “ money “ is more important than taking care of the environment. Staying ignorant does not help any situation or circumstance. We’ve made money necessary for the exchange of goods and services but it’s actually good healthy air and water quality that keeps us all alive. The USA is less than 300 years old and a lot of water is so polluted ya can’t drink it, eat the fish, or in some cases advised not to even swim in, and Air quality alerts in industrialized areas, the list goes on and on….…. The Native people of this land were so right about so many things. It really comes down to living in balance with our surroundings with one word in mind

“ Harmony “. I really enjoyed your interview with Jane Goodall !
