I don't know how # 45 could grant a pardon when he committed the crime also. The man is just crooked in all things he does. I hope all of them go to jail. The great insult for #45 would be for someone to tattoo the word Looser somewhere on him so all could see. I do not understand why the Republicans in congress are supporting him other than they want a dictator in this country. ALL of them should be held accountable.

One saying I shall never forget, Eliot Spitzer’s advice to others: “Never talk when you can nod, never nod when you can wink, and never write an email, because it’s death. You’re giving the prosecutors all the evidence we need.” As we know, he left a paper trail and resigned. The number of lawyers and lawmakers who are involved in J6 is astounding, but nothing new to me. Of course, Eastman KNEW he crossed the line/broke the law, evidenced by his quest for a pardon AND his 100 “Fifths”. It’s amazing how brutal and criminal these evangelical Republicans get when trying to steal elections from Democrats (Watergate, Bush v Gore, J6). Question, Ari: Is it possible to get the list for pardons? Is it available to J6; to us? Might they have it already? Great synopsis!

Question answered. Liz just said, they will expose congressional pardon requests, end of hearing.

Eastman knows what he did. I just want to know who else is on the "pardon list," and what did they do, or *think* they did that would need a pardon?

Eastman most definitely committed the crime of putting an attempted coup in place. Trump spurned his plea for a pardon because Eastman’s crime was also his own crime and would implicate him. I truly hope they both go to prison. We MUST hold the perpetrators accountable or else our Democracy is doomed. You know it. I know it. And the majority of Americans know it. I just hope Merrick Garland is up to the task!

Wow!!! So much new information has been presented, and more to come. It is a bit overwhelming to process, but thanks to you and your colleagues for the recapping of the days hearings, we get some questions answered.

They all knew what they were doing was illegal. Breaking the law was not even on their radar until later. The former guy has gotten away with so much in his life, why would this time be different.

Eastman invoked the fifth over 100 times. Why???? He knew he broke the law!!!

Thanks Ari, keep bringing us more special reports. They are always extremely informative.

Waiting on the hearings, we will see you tonight!!!🙏

Hi Ari! I do think Eastman knowingly and purposely broke the law. I also believe Trumps’s defense would be “ he said it was legal and I believed him” despite all his other attorneys advising it was illegal. He could say he didn’t really understand why it was illegal and one attorney, Eastman, plus Giuliani advised it was legal. Attorneys often give differing opinions. Eastman is definitely in jeopardy. But the evidence and testimony is not all in yet, so there’s still hope.

(Will those of us who subscribed last July get a renewal email?)

I loved Al Franken's assertion that former President Trump's only defense is insanity.

Hello Ari,

I feel Eastman knew-yes.

But what jumped out at me as a non lawyer was this:"The Supreme Court has ruled that “a pardon carries an imputation of guilt.”" With the current SC overturning decades of precedent, my *trust* of that institution in its current makeup is practically non-existent. (It had a 54% disapproval rate at the end of May.)

Hi Ari and Happy Almost Fri-YAY😃

Thanks for your newsletter and your analysis on the January 6th committee hearing.

I have been paying attention to the hearings and OMG, the testimonies and the evidence are damning.

Your analysis on Eastman is definitely on point.

No one seeks for pardon if one does not commit crime.

Do you think Eastman knew he crossed the line or broke the law? But of course yes! A big resounding yes…he pled the fifth when he was testifying and asked for pardon so he knew that he did something illegal.

Excellent point that you brought up one why Trump didn’t pardon Eastman…I wonder why🤔

I really hope that Trump and all that are involved in the coup plotting and insurrection are held accountable by the DOJ.

If Eastman didn’t know he is not much of a lawyer or a law professor. I think he certainly knew but I think he underestimated who he worked for. I believe Trump set him up as the fall guy for these crimes. I would love to know what words Trump uses to seduce professionals into criminal liability. Trump is a con extraordinaire.

Brilliant, brilliant commentary! I enjoy your contributions to all the programs you are involved with and can’t help observing your expertise accumulated over years of hard work poring over law books and warming the seats of court rooms. You are an asset to our nation, and I am SO grateful that you are the right person at the right time to help preserve the democracy that our ancestors and soldiers fought and died to

establish and sustain with their labors. Thank you, Ari.❤️🙏🥰

Yes yes, Eastman knew he broke the law. Why else would he ask for a pardon?

The laser focused hearings are showing us the multifaceted layers of Trump’s and his cronies’ plot. The way I see it, each layer is a twisted limb of a poisoned tree. And the committee is exposing the stunning evidence needed for DOJ to take down the people who poisoned this tree. A huge take away for me is the connection of the dots from Pence not folding to decertify the electoral count to the violence. And another take away from today…how close we got to having a Putinesque government, or the poisoned tree surviving.

I cannot wait to hear more riveting testimony.

Eastman absolutely knew he was committing a crime. He should definitely be held accountable along with his mob boss Donald Trump and all of his crooked cronies. Our Democracy is at stake. There needs to be accountability and respect shown to the rule of law. Nobody should be above the law. No excuses.

One thing I'll never understand is why these ride or die loyalists to Trump, continue to be so when he regularly demonstrates that he will cast them aside or throw them in the fire to save himself.

What do they think if they were slammed on the ground and a knee in there neck or being beaten half to death or shot over a traffic stop ? These republican criminals need to be treated like everyday Americans have been treated for decades! Lock all there asses up and buy them makeup and dresses were there going LoL

I am still waiting for Trump to be charged. Nobody should be above the law. I knew Trump and his dad from years ago, I watched them with their real etate business and how they cheated people. So many miss deeds. They always got away with the way they did business. I could never figure how they got away with so much, they always came out smelling like rose.

I watched MSNBC the day of January 6th-I could not beleive what I was witnessing on live Tv. I thought this must be wrong. This is not the America I grew up in, Where is the protection? Why is nobody coming to help? I was so confused, i was sobbing. These hearings have given me a sense of peace and understanding.
