I received my Kansas mail-in ballot last Saturday and had it delivered to the post office on Tuesday. I had my care-giver take it and hand it to the postal worker in the post office. You are so right: This is The Biggest Election Ever. At least it is in my liffetime, and I will be 72 on Nov. 8. GO DEMS.

Definitely voted early here in Ohio!

I am Democrat proud!

I am scared

We can't lose our precious democracy

I feel surrounded by the far right extremists

I believe in President Biden

Thank goodness he is our President during these times

Also, I listened to all of the 5 podcasts of Rachel's "ULTRA"

And so, we are there again

Democrats have got to succeed

Also, I watch MSNBC and you all the time

To answer your question, "What are you watching for on election night?" 'A MIRACLE" 💙🙏✌️

Feel the same way We need a miracle I spoke to someone who "hates" all democrats She didn't want to hear any truths/facts When asked what was offered by Republicans to improve our lives She couldn't answer and told me I'll vote for who I want. So much for having a conversation

I might, but the parking lot was crowded. If not I will vote early on Election Day to keep the Repubs in suspense :)

BTW- was really bummed with Bill Maher's confident prediction that Repubs will win and our democracy is definitely ending by Jan 2025. If that is the case, than it's a foregone conclusion so what's the point? If he is right, what does he plan to do when authoritarianism takes hold and what will happen to us? What will our lives be like?

Expand full comment

Admittedly, I hear something different every day. If you saw my daily emails, you would think every Democrat is losing and just needs my donation to push them over the top. Then, you hear during evening news/opinion shows that some of the Democrats have pulled ahead. I don't know who to believe. Once I mailed in my ballot, I felt that was the best I could do.

Expand full comment

yes- if all the Dems vote we will win- at least the Senate. It really is about voter turn out- vote now while it still counts.

Expand full comment

Biden will veto any really noxious legislation. Most likely, nothing particularly good or bad will happen. Congress won't be able to override his veto. The action really starts to take place after Jan. 20, 2025. That election the Dems must win, or it's all over for the country.

Expand full comment

Yes- but it will be a lot harder then if election deniers especially for Secy of State and Election Officials get in power now.

Expand full comment

The republic will not end if the Republicans win. But DJT's past performance was certainly a clear and present danger to the republic. It is difficult to swallow, but a one-party nation is not a democracy. So we actually need another main party to keep the government effective. Just hope the other main party choses a candidate that can eventually work across the aisle and represent all Americans, like a President should. A President outlawing the opposing party as a threat to democracy may not be a good idea. It sounds very much like what happens in some countries in South America, that never ends well...

Understanding how to message is as important as the message especially in today's climate Obama he's really connecting with the voters The Republicans have not one proposal to improve our lives The wealthy are thriving Has prices rising democratics need to m point out the companies are.making mucjo Dinero while we struggle to buy gas with amts earned by these companies. The wealthy don't want to lose their power Supporters of trump/Republicans willing to give their liberties and trust when offered nothing President Biden and democrats doing so.much and it's not realized by voters ?? Then you have predicting that Republicans will gain seats when you see intimidating and combat gear at polling sites Bill Marher very irresponsible Some ratings more important than the message given I saw on a show A parent was so desperate with a situation with his son that he felt the only solution was prison He had no resources and he was helpless .He son getting in serious trouble I feel a cry for help begging for help. The commentator said we'll keep in touch. I was wondering as we listened to this dad keep in touch to help or to hear the tragic events unfolding ! Are these the moments we live in using these events in our lives as Republicans using pain and fear and desensitized our lives Instead of bring Americans together and helping us unite. I put this out

Expand full comment

I apologize sometimes my phone auto corrects and misspelling mucho Dinero

Expand full comment

Yes why predicting Republicans will win seats Puzzling why media suggests Trump might run in 2024 ? Don't they think he will be held accountable like others ? Scary as it says something a message the very suggestion Hopefully Trump will be held accountable As I see it too much time is passing as he's visible and allowed to continue to message exasibating our current situation the threat to our democracy He must be held accountable shortly as others have Danger in the air as his momentum grows

Expand full comment

Thanks, I don't know why the news media is touting the same predictive nonsense that the Repubs are going to win and will act surprised when they claim any Democrat that wins cheated because their predictions were that the Repubs would win. The "wrong direction" poll question should be eliminated. When I say the country is going in the wrong direction, it's certainly not because of what Biden and the Dems are doing. It's because of the Supreme Court, the Big Lie, the gun problem, the increasing hate and racism, the media's tendency to false equivalence and both-sidesism, etc. etc.

Expand full comment

I’ve never liked this question, Dan, for the reasons you outlined. However, the reader or the poll taker assumes it’s due to Biden’s (or whoever is in office) policies, opposed to all the BS you listed above.

I am tempted to just watch movies all day long on November 8. When I wake up on November 9, I will be surprised. I'll know then if my military career is something to be proud of or if my loyalty to democracy and western values was really worth it. My life as a soldier and as a federal employee will have been a delusion if the Republicans take over the Senate. My confidence in the righteousness of my country will be bolstered if the Democrats gain in the Senate. November 8 is much more to me than just another election, it is a validation (or not) of my service to this country.

I hope so but I just hate basically all the media constantly saying it's razor thin and making it seem as if Democrats are losing the messaging war. The media keeps focusing on it's all about inflation and gas and crime and not about what the Republicans are actually saying they will do to strip and roll back our rights and rule as authoritarians continuing to make the rich richer and the hatred and division from the right wing extremist groups will be encouraged

Patricia, you are so right! Everything I see re: Pelosi’s attempted murder, is about defending his honor versus connecting it to crime--Republicans’ thunder! Yes, correct the facts, but move on to try to win the races. The Republican focus is crime, then let’s talk about crime, to include Pelosi, J6, their votes on gun control, their weapon patrols of drop boxes, etc. Our messaging is quite lacking! The same for the Economy. Former President Obama showed them how to campaign, over the weekend and nobody has picked up the mantle.

Hi SandraR! We, and the media, are good at playing into Republican hands; picking up their mantras and making them viable. If I hear another Democrat say “owning the libs,” I’m pulling out my hair! Hello Ari,

As far as I'm concerned, democracy is *always* on the ballot. As the great Cyndi Lauper said in your interview with her, "We're Americans. We're supposed to be involved [politically]." Racism, fear, voter suppression etc. in elections are not new; yet, "we" (certainly not Blacks folks) sometimes act surprised, with the oft-heard "This is not who were are" refrain. 🙄

On election night and the days thereafter, I'll be more interested in results. And yes, I try to avoid the hyperbole and hyperventilating around polling of some political pundits and "journalists." As you indicated, those who operate at the margins of society are hurt the most when any kind.of major economic shift occurs. They are not interested in polls; I feel they're gonna "vote their stomachs," as that is *the* basic human need for survival.🍞👩🏽‍🍳

Hello Ari and everyone, Happy Tuesday and I hope that everyone is having a good day 😃

I don’t know what to think in terms who will be taking over the House and Senate... I will watch Steve Kornacki’s analysis on the election (as Fab 5 Freddy would describe Steve Kornacki, “ Grand Master Math”).

The main thing right now is for lots of people to vote 🗳

What are you watching for on Election Night? I am hoping that Democrats will remain the majority. I am so afraid of what the fascists far right wingers will do to this country if they take over.

A city or venue I will like you to visit in the future: any city in the NJ/NY/CT tri-state area or even Philadelphia PA is ok with me 😃

Reminder: for those of us that have not voted, please make sure to vote 🗳

And one more thing: I got an email from Amazon stating that I will receive a copy of your book between December 2nd and 5th…yay! So excited 😆

Cheers😃🥂

Plus, your positive outlook really helps in these times. Love your Maverick series! So on Election Day and night, I’m looking for just the facts, as they come through.
