Good article Ari. You layout facts nicely... like one of my pharmaceutical mathematic formulas. No matter how we reform the out of control police, how we label and report that is crucial as the republican's are outstanding in bellowing outright lies and fabrications.
I appreciate you passing on your knowledge about this policing policy. I was never aware of it and realize how unjust it is. I hope this can be changed in the future.
Recently, on your show, I saw a man arrested and handcuffed because he resembled a picture {facial recognition] and carted off. He did not receive "Due Process" which gives him the right to notice, the opportunity to be hears and a decision to be made by a decision maker. This is definitely wrong policing.
We grieve for those murdered, shudder at those left paralysed with no recompense. But to learn the history (all those priests and others who first brought suit) and learn it's the history of a lie! Thanks for this enlightenment.
Time for you to interview Boston U Professor Deborah Ramirez re police needing Liability insurance, which would price out the bad seeds in law enforcement, great chance George Floyd would still be alive today.
As one who has worked in the criminal justice industry for many years around the country I can tell you that it is a fact that 60% plus of ALL gun violence is because of drug prohibition.
Lose drug prohibition and it will eliminate the "us against them" police mentality.
When a low level dealer or user to the Cartels there are disputes that cannot be handled by courts. Therefore, they are handled with violence.
NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS! TWEAKING GUN LAWS ETC. MAKE NO DIFFERENCE.
AMERICANS SPEND $200 BILLION A YEAR ON ILLEGAL DRUGS. THERE ARE MANY DISPUTES, THEREFORE MANY GUN DEATHS.
Don't believe me, fact check it yourself. Check the WEBSITE LEAP. IT IS A GOOD START (LAW ENFORCEMENT AGAINST PROHIBITION)
This is important information for the public to know. I really admire that it's not just your thirst for knowledge that is important to you, but also that you will do anything you can to empower more people with the proper legal acumen to help themselves and their communities.
Thank you for the information and education, Ari! Got to wonder what's the Senate Republican's argument for wanting to strip immunity reform from the bill?
Is change realistically possible? Isn't it cruel to raise hope that it IS within an enveloping system so fragmented? Federalism is barely observed and functioning with states operating as nation-states, policing within their control, often through counties and/or municipalities, and most importantly, elected federal politicians [in fraught selective system] too far from influence and control of those electing them. And the justice system has been deeply politicized, especially the Supreme Court. Most helpful to those desperate for change would be focus on changeable points within the spider web system. Too many with power do not want change and will vigorously fight and undermine it. Observe how respected old guard of Democratic party are already calling out and warning to back off those they term their progressive wing, and how ethnicity, race, religion of that faction are highlighted or surreptitiously included, either in accompanying text, chosen photos or subtle inference. I desperately want the reality of Sam Cooke's beautiful, moving anthem, "A Change is Gonna Come," but the powerful forces against it must be identified, separated out, tackled with precision and strategy, countered with blunt truth and collective political strength.

Right, people can make up their own minds about reform, but it's relevant that this 'baseline' was made up by judges and is not required.
Nicely constructed. Your commitment to social and criminal justice is inspiring.
Love the way you broke that down and I appreciate your passion on this issue.
Wow! So unaware of this. How did I miss this watching your show? 🤪

Thanks Ari....appreciated your comments on this important issue.
I have let my Senators know that I support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. I currently live in Texas; not holding my breath on this one. 😔

Excellent read Ari, and thanks for breaking it down with such clarity.
Thx Thelease!
Law enforcement in any country is corrupt, unfortunately, I live in Canada, and to witness some of
the things you are so passionate about watching " THE BEAT " you do an incredible job, I understand more about US politics, thank you
