I object. Pence was the consummate enabler for 4 years; that he found God on January 6 doesn't wipe his complicity away. No Medal of Honor for Pence.

Hi Julie, Perfect!!!👍 Pence was a big part of the former guy never being held accountable for all his crimes. So tired of these religious fanatics lying and using God as their excuse for whatever they do.

Those who declare Mike Pence a “patriotic hero,” forget his consultations with Dan Quayle and Judge Luttig about his VP duties re: the electoral votes. Seemingly, indicating he was ignorant of his constitutional duties, ambivalent, or possibly in solidarity, as he’d been his entire VP reign. Although it took an attack of conscious for Cassidy Hutchinson, she returned and went before the world, to provide very significant information. Information that activated our DOJ. She has my respect.

Thank you! This part is so important. He would have if he could, done what Trump wanted. He was urged not to and told it would fail. I'm with you with Cassidy as well. She has my respect for the information she provided. It was a turning point.

“A turning point,” very much so! Hey, CalenderGrl, been missing you. A lot going on--one hardly gets a chance to exhale. Great reading your posts again.❤️

I missed you too! I'm so glad that he started back his newsletter. Not only do I love his writings, but I enjoy the conversations we all have. It's been so long. I hope you are doing well!

I’m quite well, thank you! I, too, miss his newsletters and the responding writers, with the long lags. He is in such demand, then trying to do that work balance thing they speak if nowadays. Have a great weekend—mine will be spent researching these umpteenth judges on my ballot. Goodnight!

Yeah, I don't envy his his schedule whether work related or personal. I'm such a fan of my own personal time and he is a very busy and popular man, doing big things. I appreciate watching it all however. And I love reading his newslettes. I pre-ordered his book and look forward to that as well. I love voting, but I'm so bad when it comes down to the judges. Thank you for reminding me to start the research process. I've always left that for last minute and it's just too important to not be thorough in this area.

Yes, to all! Don’t know where you are, I’m west coast. By far, the most intense ballot I’ve ever had. Spent three hours on it yesterday—probably two, researching 12 of the 18 judges, alone. Overwhelming, but as you say, “too important, not to be thorough.” Good luck with yours! Here’s to good health and motivated voters!😂🙏🏽❤️

PS: My process is, if nominated by a Democratic Governor, they’re generally pretty safe, but scan them anyway for something untoward. Republican appointees are more difficult. They hide who they are, so I searched political leanings, writings, rulings; if they ruled against Democratic presidents, our issues; looked at their organizations and social interests. Time spent, but we’ll worth it. Discovered one Republican judge set a precedent in my state by ruling that jurors could not be barred for sexual orientation. Very significant for my vote. Another one used up a half-hour or research. Even his cases didn’t tell me a lot. Nothing! Eventually, I found an article in a major newspapers from years ago, stating he was “fair.” Well, that’s all you can ask, is that one be fair.

Something is wrong in Florida !!! I’m watching the jurors sentence recommendations for the Parkland shooter. They polled the jurors BY NAME! THEN TOLD THEM ABOUT THEIR RIGHT TO PRIVACY! Something is wrong in Denmark!🙄

Expand full comment

My thoughts exactly. I couldn't believe they were not calling the jurors by numbers, but their full names. Then the life sentence was heartbreaking. The pain the families have endured is unimaginable.

Expand full comment

Unimaginable, because of the loss, but a double slap in the face with the games Republicans play around gun safety and mental health. Yet, I thought, some of these families will still go vote for a Rubio or DeSantis, not recognizing how that vote contributes to the vulnerabilities of us all.

Hey V! Waiting with great expectations! All the hearings have been fruitful, and it’s a perfect time for the last one. I’d rather hear the committee, than Riggleman--another opportunist, who’s been provided platforms for his personal greed. Just irks me, every time he says he wrote it for the “American people.” Partial information! Is that what he thought we deserved? I turned away on all but Ari’s and Joy’s interviews. Anyway, will talk tomorrow.

Hi Ari and everyone and Happy Mid week (Happy Wednesday😃)

About your book which is the number one sold book on Amazon (woo hoo😃😃): I have pre ordered my copy and I look forward to reading this book to learn more and to get your perspective/ analysis on January 6th.

About Mike Pence: Up to this day, Mike Pence has not come to the American people and give his account of the January 6th insurrection so Cipollone can take a back seat and be quiet on that medal of freedom shenanigans…oh pulease 🙄

My wish as a U.S citizen and as someone who knows right from wrong and upholds the laws of the United States: Trump must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I hope to see this happen.

Reminder: Vote by mail has started in some states. I just dropped off my ballot in the ballot box today. Please make sure that you vote.

Two of the biggest things at stake:

Democracy

Women’s rights

Cheers🍾🥂

Hi, Ms O! Re: Mike Pence and Trump prosecution: DITTO! I’m hoping they’re delaying until after the election to arrest him. Personally, midnight, Nov. 9th; 12:01 am is too late...Got my ballot also. Yea to you for your timeliness! I’m hoping they’re missing something in these polls, with Democracy and Women’s Rights, on the ballot, as you say. Happy Wednesday/Thursday and a great weekend to you! Be well!❤️

Hi Olddiva, yes, that might be the DOJ’s approach...wait till after the midterms.

About dropping off my ballot: I am no longer taking voting for granted and this is what drives me to take my time to fill out the ballot and drop off on time. Democracy and women’s rights are too precious to lose.

You’re so right! My age group had to be 21 to vote, and seeing the plight of Dr King and others, places me in your camp—knowing the significance of it all. Yes, the economy, inflation and all such issues are important, but without our Democracy (and certainly our RIGHTS as women), we’re Russia! Enjoy your weekend!❤️

Hi Sandra 🤗 I found out a few weeks ago I had been "accidentally" kicked off the voters roll. They fixed it but, I was so upset about it. Imagine how many aren't aware and don't check. We start early voting here October 24th. All we can do is vote, spread the word, and hope and pray for the best.🙏

Medal of Cowardness to all of them😡

Maybe the DOJ is waiting for the midterms to be over before any arrests are made. That's me wishful thinking.🤞

Hi V, happy Sunday! It has been long time since we all came together and had our good discussions. I definitely missed that. My schedule is crazy right now. Been pulling some later work hours, so I try to do most of my SM time on the weekends. I'm in a red state as well (very unfortunate), so I had to check. I will check again. But so far, so good. I'm feeling hopeful about the midterms, but cautious. We just need everyone to get out and vote and encourage friends and family to do the same. It's that important. They should also check to see if they are registered.

Great write up. I agree with you on all counts. If I may I would like to add Men’s rights too.

A lot of woman who are in the battle of Abortion from either side has not taken the time to realize that women and the law of the land for the past 50 years has not included men in the rights of the baby. Men can not have sex with a woman unless she agrees to it. Or it would be considered rape if she didn’t agree. So if they both agreed to have sex then why does the man (26 chromosomes from each.) have no say once conception takes place. Yes, she caries the baby for 9 months. However the man has to adjust to those 9 months too. More responsibilities, taking her to doc appointments, putting up with the mood swings, body changing, more chores, and so on. And that’s only if the woman allows him to be a part of it. She can deny him all rights and the courts will support her. Except if she takes him to court for money. So to only think Abortion is about the woman the women haven’t taken the time to realize if they included the men in the fight their rights would have twice the amount of force defending peoples rights. If your fighting for just women’s rights I would almost have to say that’s racist. To allow a women to kill a mans baby without him having a say in the matter??? I don’t even think that’s racism. That’s just wrong. Then again, she could let it live and still the man has no say in the matter! I’m fighting for women’s rights. Are you willing to fight for men’s rights? Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts on your platform. Bless you and enjoy the hearing tomorrow.

I agree that the bar has been set pretty low when we congratulate people for stepping up and doing the right thing, the lawful thing. When did that get to be the exception instead of the rule? Hello Sylviane,

I cannot believe we are even having this conversation. We reward babies, puppies etc during their periods of learning, growth and transition to adulthood. Ok.

But grown men (and women) who are acting in their own self interest and/or just doing thier jobs? No. A thousand times no! And as harsh as this might appear to some, that also goes for Liz Cheney.

Thanks Ari for your report on Rikers. It's a sad realization how the justice system will never be fair to people of color. No matter how much we fight for the same rights as a white defendent, it will never happen in this country. We keep taking backward steps to what should be justice for all of us. You always bring these injustices to light. We truly appreciate your being a voice to the voiceless. God bless you.🙏

That was a great, but sad story. Your heart goes out to people who get caught in these systems, especially the penal/legal system. On the other hand, your kid can’t go to MacDonald’s for a burger. San Antonio’s police chief implemented the right action for that terrible wrongdoing. While I’m talking, perhaps the jury awards against Alex Jones might be the catalyst to stop these personal defamations to citizens and companies. Just lies and destruction all the time! Later❤️

The only hero amongst anyone mentioned in your essay besides all the first responders who risked their lives is Liz Cheney. She risked everything to stand tall for truth and democracy. That being said I am not a fan of her political perspectives but standing up for truth and reality and losing her job as fallout seems heroic to me. Most of the other political people are obsequious cowards.

Why in the world should Mike Pence deserve a medal for just doing his job. All of those witnesses stood silent until they were subpoenaed to testify. They were too afraid of repercussions from the former President before the insurrection.

Maybe if they all spoke up before January 6th, there would not have been the violence that took place

Other than the police officers who were injured defending our Capitol that day, I can't think off the top of my head of any real heroes other than Miss Ruby and her daughter, whose name I am embarrassed to say I cannot remember. Cassidy Hutchinson? I know others think she's a hero, but she was privy to a great deal of information that the public had a right to know. For her to come forward was "the least of" in my opinion.

The real heroes here are all the first responders. So many stand out, including those who testified before the 1/6 committee. One among the many heroes is Mike Fanone, who continues to fight for democracy and now police reform. He's not afraid to call out the very people he was there to protect who continue to minimize or deny the insurrection.

Joanie, you are so right! It’s God’s Grace that more of the first responders didn’t perish, listening to the reports from the Oath Keeper’s trial! I can’t for the life of me figure out why so many went to law school, in law enforcement, grew businesses, rose in Corporate America, to follow Trump. I guess power (of ANY kind), is seductive to some folks.
