Wow! I needed this story today. Thanks… I actually know of a few people with stories like his. I feel blessed to call them friends. A lot of people come back after hitting rock bottom. You see it with addiction. I myself will be celebrating 16 years sober in November. There is hope! There is always HOPE. ✌️( feel good newsletter❣️)

Hi Ari, I just finished Redeeming Justice. Wow. It’s one thing to “know” that these adversities exist and that some, but not enough, people overcome them, it’s another thing to listen to Adam’s story first hand. I cannot imagine how he survived and is where he is. What an amazing human.

And I am sick to my stomach to think about how many lives have been and continue to be destroyed.

So what do we do? Without your incessant thoughtful work on shedding light on this horror, we may not know about Jarrett Adams, and I thank you for that. This book should be required reading in public schools. (I’m working on my 13 year old passionate niece, through music, of course.)

I do belive that Shyne's lived experience will help him as a lawmaker. Like Cori Bush & AOC, your lived experience directly impacts how you create policy.

I also believe that prison reform is absolutely necessary. We are to rehabilitate incarcerated people, not treat them as second class citizens. Studies have shown that if we focus on rehabilitation, and not punishment, the reincarnation rate would drop. Great article!

This really uplifted my spirit. My grandson is a very young man and was sentenced to 30 years (unjustifiably in my opinion). This article makes me believe there's hope for his future - still.

Something new learned, thanks Ari. I do indeed remember the nightclub incident 22 years ago. But didn't recall Shyne's implication in it and his subsequent #evolution. Am going to share your newsletter both with a director of Israeli Studies and a prominent rabbi at the local synagogue, in Montreal. Plus, for your readers, here's Shyne in convo with Diddy Love, recorded in July 2021. It's basically your words translated and transferred to the moving image with added emotion. Peace & Smiles. Given an opportunity to change their lives, many lawbreakers will be successful in any endeavor they want to pursue. Maybe Shyne being deported back to Belize was the best thing that happened to him. He changed his life, and is making a difference. Unfortunately not everyone gets that chance. There are so many stories out there, maybe you will be able to bring them to light through your newsletters. Thanks again Ari!!!🙏

Excellent story! This story reminds me of many a black man that has been incarcerated. Sentenced to incarceration but many can’t make the mindset change. For him it seems he realized he is more than his past mistakes for others it is not so easy. What stands out in this piece are the words “soul, spirit, courage, change.” Shyne immersed himself in the pursuit of the spiritual to help his mindset. I believe he can be successful and bring great insight to his political career. He lived it, he had first hand experience of the “system” which can be used to the betterment of those inside whose mindset hasn’t changed. Our prison systems need more emphasis on reform instead of just punishment.

Shyne's wisdom about life & embracing it with pure (unconditional) love has rewarded him, respect. His deep understanding about moving forward in life without looking back has also rewarded him, great perspective. As a practicing Speech Language Therapist who enjoys learning from people that express resilience & love for life, this was a good read. Shyne's story will be used as an inspirational example for my clients who feel trapped in their chapter. Thank you for this inspiring stories!

Hi Ari. I so appreciated that article. Shyne refused to be labeled. He is a real trail blazer for Black and Brown men who have victimized. The judicial system needs reform. He had the courage to pursue what he wanted. He is definitely inspiring and giving person. Great article.

Hello Ari.

I have never been blessed to know a beautiful person like him to move through such adversity and reach the goals he always wanted. He is more than impressive. I am in awe.

God Speed

I love what he said about you combining your law, journalism host of your own show, and your love of hip hop, possible in this country. I'm a 70 year old white lady but love that handle your show combining these factors. I giggle when you throw out a reference to a rapper, and catch your guests rarely knowing the rapper quotes you throw out to them. I giggle because I don't know either, but love learning so many things from your show. Thank you Ari!!

My life story through many many struggles, did relatively well until health issues stymied me.

God Bless

Thanks for this. Wondering about the circumstances of his arrest and prosecution. So many do not have the opportunities this brave soul appears to have had when he got out. And so few focus on women in prison and the families that are disrupted as a result of incarceration.
