Fully vaccinated at age 84, my wife and I scrupulously follow the advice of Dr. Fauci - including the wearing of masks.

We have much to live for and wish to enjoy life to the fullest.

Yes, I agree with Dr. Fauci.I have family members who have not been vaccinated because of misinformation and that is a sore subjected for them. To tell you the truth Ari, I have been fully vaccinated, but I continue to wear my mask outside of my home. Great article as usually. Stay safe Ari. and thanks.

Hi Ari, hope your day is going well! First, thank you for the excellent comprehensive and in depth segment on Covid last night. We should not expect Dr. Fauci, other respected scientists, and physician experts to be infallible- we should expect them to speak truth based on data, evidence and experience. Data and experience can change and opinions and guidance need to reflect that. It happens all the time in medicine.

I agree that embracing vaccination is key to controlling this evolving pandemic. We are obviously not there yet. I’m vaccinated but to be truly cautious because of the Delta variant, I wear a mask, stay away from large indoor venues, and social distance from people in my immediate environment “just in case” they are infectious. Or, I may be infectious and don’t know it. I would say if you’re not feeling well, stay away from others until you know what’s going on. Get tested. Quarantine until you get test results. Small sacrifices for your own good and the health and well-being of others.

As to why so many people are hesitant, I think some have legitimate fears and some imagined fears, both of which could be overcome with education, targeted messaging and personal outreach . For others there is the inability to self examine and to trust. My humble opinion only. Stay safe.

Thank you so much, Ari. I have both moderna shots, and am eager to get a booster when Dr. F suggests it. The people here don't vaccinate much, especially in the apartment area. Cringe ...! Please have a beautiful new time, and stay well yourself! Hugs!

We would greatly benefit from a virus 101 class and to look towards our neighbor as a friend. I believe this is the only way to get past this and learn together.

What a blessing to have Dr. Fauci. I’m grateful for his strength thru the Trump Administration and now with Fox & Rep. spreading lies. Not all hero’s have caps, some have white jackets.

Yes, I agree with Dr. Fauci that it does come down to getting vaccinated. This will help to prevent hospitalizations and deaths. We are burning out our hospital communities. Being vaccinated also reduces the possibility for new variants. Those who can get vaccinated should get one now. Children are heading back to school soon and many are not vaccinated. Kids can get sick enough to be hospitalized and have. Let's do our part to protect them. I believe a majority of those who choose not to get vaccinated is due to their politics. Some are more afraid of the vaccine than the possibility of being infected. But the younger people are predictable, they feel healthy and invincible. Not a lot of fear. In my community we are seeing more cases from the 20-29 age range. This next few weeks are not going to be pretty. Mask up and get vaccinated!

Important topic Ari. I liked that you used Dr Fauci's words. I work various venues in pharmacy. Three times, the ICU at a Pittsburgh Hospital called me down to sit with a patient so they had a human being consistently with them as they died. I have a reputation for compassion and empathy. The families were on Zoom and we wanted them to know their their loved one did not pass alone. The ICU staff was overworked and had no time to be there at the bedside for long periods. I tell this for what I am about to say. I have no compassion for most of the naysayers. I do not care if they catch the virus and end up on a ventilator for a few weeks. I do want them vaccinated because variants will eventually reach a stage where the vaccinated are no longer protected. Viruses are insidious at survival. This is why the yearly flu vaccine is tweaked yearly to attempt to circumvent variants and entirely new viruses that showed up the previous year. Thank you for reporting on this with the brilliant DR Fauci as your source of info.

I lost my husband from Covid and I was hospitalized with it for 2 weeks. If people had to go through what our family went through this past year they would run to get vaccinated! I pray that people will listen to Dr. Fauci before it’s too late. Please get vaccinated and protect yourself and others!

I recently discussed this with a good old country boy and he claims that his friends are all afraid of the chip that they inject with the vaccine. I would be afraid as well if my brain was running on a TRS 80 Computer chip. There’s no cure for stupid.

I agree with Dr Fauci; however, during this volatile period of COVID-19, I would continue to recommend wearing a mask. Re: Rand Paul, it WAS slanderous! Unfortunately, many in the Republican Congress are not about the country, its citizens, nor governing; it’s about grifting and becoming the news story. As for the vaccination hesitancy, it’s a combination of trust, ignorance, fear, experience, and just plain old stupidity. Then compound that with lies and misinformation from a president, a major cable news channel, clergy, lawmakers, and other so-called “respected” leaders, clouds one’s ability to process sound information.

Dr. Fauci is a hero and his word is good enough for me.

People mustn’t forget and should understand that mutations dictate advice given to public at any given time by the likes of Dr. Fauci, CDC, WHO or whoever are in the know.

As for Sen. Paul, glutton for punishment. He has reached (albeit, a long time ago) the point of no return with the lies he told and the smack downs dished out in return by numerous epidemiologists, including Dr. Fauci so I am guessing that is the reason for his inability to publicly accept the facts and to admit that he is wrong. Once a liar, always a liar. Seems to be a primary DNA component necessary for survival in Republican Party.

This was such a tremendous presentation for your newsletter. While it demonstrates all the hazards presented by so many yet unvaccinated, still the entire article has an underlying of hopefulness not despair.

The variant is such a threat though. This morning talk radio at 5:00 am-- it felt like a pandemic 9/11 with 2 hosts exchanging dark facts about Delta without any sound brightness in the background.

Let's take Dr Fauci's always sound " prescription" and gently but firmly engage others to do what must be done to eradicate this plague, now.
