Letting The Days Go By…
I grew up on Talking Heads. My parents used to play their albums on family road trips, or driving out to go hiking.
To this day, I feel that very precise, emotional connection to their music—the way certain songs evoke a feeling of another time and place. And since so many of their songs are trippy meditations on time and place, it all really fits.
When I got to interview David Byrne recently, I was psyched to ask him about his work, lyrics and the connection with his listeners.
Now, as Talking Heads fans know, Byrne has emphatically ruled out any reunion, or reunion tour, even though it’s one of those bands with a huge following clamoring for one. So there’s an audience—which performers like—and money on the table—which impacts the music industry like any other. But no dice.
